Mike Monteiro | F*ck You. Pay Me.

This is a video that I am actually watching on Sunday Morning and a big thanks to DTown TV's RC talking about designers and companies who are doing work and will need to be paid to continue their operations and what reasons clients has been giving design based companies in order to pay lesser or not pay at all. This is a fantastic read for any one who are operating or working with design companies.
So...Just to relate some of my experiences working with clients and I do have the courage to "fire" my clients as sometimes it is usually not worth working with them as well from where I am working we are working with individuals that come to us with genuine marketing problems but just doesn't want to pay for a solution that we are offering. This is the bottom line - We are running a business, not a charity organisation. We have to survive.
Therefore if any of my clients start to say the word, "Don't you trust me?" and thought that I will let them off by doing the work before they make any payment, I will just walk away. As I will be forced into a different kind of working experience that requires more of my time and energy.
Here is the irony, my colleagues and me are based in this sunny island of Singapore, and what is the problem? We don't get to enjoy the sunshine that we have. We are "locked" and "bounded" inside offices to complete work that sometimes not rewarded by these people who so called we trust. It is not about the trust, but it is about work.
Think about it the next time when you meet any freelance workers, perhaps offer some empathy to them. They have kids, family, wife to feed too.

Away for Holiday
Well it is that time of the year where people start to slowdown their momentum and go on a well deserved holiday. Lol...After helping many agents it is time to help myself to the serving on a holiday. Yup judging by the picture above I'm actually going to Taipei! *Scream*.
Anyway just to let you all wonderful readers know that I will be away on the

The seasonal Christmas Cards are already in the works, and I am so excited to share with everyone what I have on my screen right now...but Shhhhh....Don't tell anyone yet. Oh yeah the 8GB ram upgrade is really a snap...took like 15 mins...And suddenly I am blazing in everything that I am doing on this baby. Love this so much...Churned out artworks like no tomorrow and the hassle of the little rolling lollipop is a thing to the past....LOL Enjoy your weekend!!! I know I will >_<

Ideas In The Dark
Playing with photoshop yesterday and came up with well the bulb that radiates some substance which signifies the synergy of information that blends with ideas. Well that is basically what we are doing during our job. There are really alot of people looking around in the dark, paying alot of money to people who do sub-standard jobs, with Ideas hanging around the agencies, and with leading the evangelists that are genuinely eager to help. What are you waiting for?
I was talking to a friend yesterday back in Toa Payoh HDB Hub, and she was talking about how well a printer quoted her for her print job, and how she is able to get it printed at a really low rate. I was quite amazed by a few points. To be able to print at a really low rate, I'm already quite difficult to beat (Yeah I know flame me..). Having a gut feeling I asked her about the amount that she printed. It is a HUGE AMOUNT. I was like Wooh! That is alot of flyers.
Frankly speaking I know her since I was attached to HSR, and that was a long time ago when I was young and handsome...(Duh..) Ok skip the handsome part...and she didn't print so much before and she was all along targeting at Condos and Landed Properties. Feeling perplex I probe her about the targeted area. She said District 17 to 20. To my understanding she needs roughly 15,000 to 16,000 pieces of whatever she is printing. And she needs to use 10 rounds to finish what she is printing. (Gulps).
Next up..I asked her...Yeh Yeh...so how are you going to distribute? The answer is "I don't know". At this time I had already fallen off my chair...But I didnt...I was determined to at least given a solution. I told her the hard truth. To finish off what she have...meaning 15Kpcs a round perhaps around that area with Singpost (I mean that is basically the only service to use to get into private properties).
Meaning a cost of roughly around $2,200 after I dropped some discounts and some dollar and cents off. By than, she has no idea that she has to pay this much for a distribution, and needs 10 rounds to finish off what she has printed...($22K...Gosh!)...Farming the same content -_-....imagine all the hate mails that come from the owners....Well that is something to Ponder about >_<...
Oh yeah...by the way 80gsm flyers, you cannot distribute by Singpost...they need 157gsm at least >_< looks like the Garang Guni is gonna get some business...
Just another day ^^, I hope to help more people not just this friend, but more...
